The first proof copy of NP is now at the local indie bookstore, making the rounds with the folks who work there. I went over it carefully and sent my corrections to Byron for the final proof copy. The final proof will be ordered next weekend. June 5 is the deadline for reviewers to get me their blurbs for the back cover.
I'm hoping for blurbs from local a local computer club and Ham Radio club. When's the last time you saw reviews for a fiction book from non-authors? Yeah, me neither. I think it fits the book though. I wanted the reviews to be local, because the book is set here in Boise, Idaho.
The cover looks fantastic and I'm also happy with the interior layout. It's a very traditional layout, with a few geeky touches that will be the trademark of the Joshua Jones series. The chapters start with zero not one, just like an array. The scene breaks are delineated by comment tags used in programs. Other than that, things are fairly normal inside.
I went ahead and purchased a bar code to use on the back cover. It only costs me $10.00, so I thought it was worth having a working bar code. I was going to use a free, open source generated bar code, but it would not register the price, so I had to buy one.
I will put a rush delivery on the final proof and should have it by the end of that week. So, if all goes well, by mid June, the book will be ready to purchase. Perhaps by the end of June, book stores will be able to buy it and I can schedule some local signings.
If you are going to purchase NP on line, you should get it from Lulu.com, because I make a better profit that way. But it will be available on BN.com and Amazon.com.
